Trade Shows & Events Coronavirus MedtecLIVE

Germany - Most Events Cancelled

Big events play a major role in the COVID-19 infection dynamics. Therefore, the German Federal Government and the Federal States have decided to forbid all large-scale events in Germany until at least 31 August 2020. What events are affected? Which ones will take place?

What events are affected?
Each German State issues their own decree. Only few States have defined what major event means and what number of persons will be permitted to gather when the current decrees run out in the beginning of May. Berlin will allow events with a maximum of 1000 participants until 31 August 2020, and trade shows up to 5,000 participants until 24.10.2020 subject to certain, still unanannounced conditions.

Hamburg and Lower Saxony will also allow events up to 1000 participants.

Saxony-Anhalt, however, will not allow any gatherings with more than two people through 31 August 2020.

One event that is scheduled to take place in Berlin before the summer is the MedTech Forum on 25 – 27 May 2020. On the conference's website, the organizers note that they still have to assess the feasibility of the event.

Another event before 31 August 2020 for the medical device industry is the MedtecLIVE trade show in connection with the MedTech Summit Congress & Partnering in Nuremberg, Bavaria. However, the Bavarian state has enacted the strictest measures against coronavirus in Germany.

As of the 20 April 2020, the organizers of MedtecLIVE state that they have "firm plans to hold MedtecLIVE on the scheduled dates of 30.06. to 02.07.2020." "We are in constant and close contact with the authorities and the Bavarian state government. We are currently reviewing the concrete conditions for upcoming events and definitions of the applicable restrictions, particularly for MedtecLIVE, as part of the necessary protective measures, and are gearing our event and concept accordingly", the organizers further say. NürnbergMesse will have an emergency management system in place, for example, as well as a security control unit and very high cleanliness standards. At the time of the trade fair current travel bans could still be in place and impact the number of international visitors. Yet, NürnbergMesse is convinced that it will remain vital in future for people to gather, meet and interact, and accomplish more together.

Open MTME Trade Show Zone for MedtecLIVE 2020

Sensor + Test 2020 is also still scheduled to take place as planned on 23 - 25 June at Messe Nürnberg in Germany.

Many other international MedTech shows have been postponed: Open MTME Trade Show Zones for more information.
